Butuan City is the provincial capital of Agusan del Norte. The city is accessible by air, through the Bancasi Airport; by sea, through the Nasipit Port; and by land, through its national roads and bridges, linking it to nearby provinces.
It has an approximate area of 70,800 hectares or 708 sq. km. 55% of the area is classified as agricultural lands. Lumber, plywood, veneer, poles and table banana are the major products of Butuan City.
A catch phrase "THE PRE-HISTORIC DESTINATION" was adopted by the City Tourism Board, to put Butuan City on the International Map of Tourism. Among the major attractions are Balanghai Shrine, Northern Mindanao Regional Museum, Agusan River, Mt. Mayapay and Pre-historic Diggings.
